Field Work
Featured Projects
A sample of the work we've performed across the region — from coastal harbors and Navy installations to Superfund sites, nuclear facilities, and wind energy infrastructure.
Ørsted Revolution Wind — Nearshore Geotechnical Investigation
Vibracore sediment investigation supporting the geotechnical program for the Revolution Wind nearshore cable route and landfall infrastructure in Rhode Island. TG&B provided two vessels, a 4-person crew, and a complete vibracore system. The program included cores at shallow, mid, and deep nearshore water depths, with a marine mammal observer aboard throughout operations.
Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station — Security Buoy & Mooring Services
Marine support services at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station decommissioning site in Plymouth, MA. TG&B performed physical inspection of security buoy moorings, replaced two lost moorings, and performed a buoy replacement/relocation operation. Work required coordination with site security and compliance with nuclear facility safety protocols.
U.S. Coast Guard Station New Haven — Sediment Investigation
Vibracore sediment sampling at U.S. Coast Guard Station New Haven, CT as part of a multi-year remedial investigation program. Sediment cores collected at stations within the station's waterfront area, with samples processed for geotechnical classification and contaminant characterization.
Naval Station Newport — Melville DFSP Remedial Investigation
Offshore sediment and porewater grab sampling at 52 stations in support of the Phase III Remedial Investigation at the former Defense Fuel Support Point at Naval Station Newport, Portsmouth, RI. TG&B deployed vibracore and porewater sampling equipment at marina and perimeter areas of the installation.
Brayton Point Power Station — USACE Sediment Sampling
Multi-phase USACE sediment sampling program at the Brayton Point Power Station site in Somerset, MA. TG&B performed vibracore sampling across multiple field seasons as part of an ongoing dredged material characterization effort for the Mount Hope Bay area. The program spanned four years with multiple mobilizations.
Boston Harbor — Reserve Channel & Conley Terminal
Sediment characterization sampling at Boston Harbor's Reserve Channel and Conley Container Terminal — two of the most active commercial waterways in New England. Work involved barge-mounted vibracore operations in deep-water, high-traffic port conditions, with composite sediment and water sample collection at multiple stations.
Merrimack River — Wellpoint Installation & Vibracore Program
Multi-season wellpoint installation and vibracore sediment sampling program on the Merrimack River in Haverhill, MA. TG&B deployed porewater wellpoint samplers and collected sediment cores at co-located stations across multiple field seasons as part of an ongoing environmental characterization program.
Mill River — DART Probe Installation & Recovery
Installation and recovery of 50 DART sediment transport probes on the Mill River in New Haven, CT. TG&B provided vessel, crew, deployment winch, and A-frame equipment over a five-day field program. All probe locations were positioned with sub-centimeter RTK GPS and documented for follow-on recovery operations.
Newtown Creek — Superfund Sediment Sampling
Vibracore sediment sampling on Newtown Creek in Brooklyn/Queens, NY — one of the most contaminated Superfund sites in the United States. Operations required navigating a complex urban industrial waterway with heavy boat traffic, confined docking, and strict chain-of-custody procedures for highly contaminated sediment samples.
Grasse River — Bio-Substrate Placement Investigation
Sediment core and grab sampling on the Grasse River in Massena, NY in support of an active bio-substrate placement program at a major Superfund site. TG&B mobilized the portable LuLu platform by truck to a remote upstate New York river location, performing sampling across multiple site areas in support of remediation monitoring.
Fall River Waterfront — USACE Pre-Dredge Sediment Characterization
Five-day vibracore program collecting 31 sediment cores at an industrial waterfront site in Fall River, MA in support of dredging characterization for the USACE New England District. A 3-person crew collected cores up to 10 feet in depth with RTK GPS positioning of all stations.
Windham Superfund Site — Pond Bathymetric Survey
Hydrographic survey of a hydroelectric pond at a Superfund site in Windham, ME. Survey included dual-frequency sonar transects for surface bathymetry and sub-bottom sediment depth profiling, supplemented by sounding pole work in shallow margins. Full xyz dataset and DXF contour drawings delivered.
